A COMBINED APPROACH

If you are seeking a combined approach, please refer to the counselling and shiatsu pages for an understanding of each therapy individually.

The combined approach is particularly helpful for those who find that words are not enough, over intellectualise, struggle to connect with or are overwhelmed by emotions and experience physical tension or pain.

Shiatsu can enhance counselling by bypassing the overactive intellect which can sometimes give us the feeling of being stuck or of going around in circles.  Bodywork can reach and help us process emotions and self-beliefs that a restored in the unconscious and held physically. Connection through touch can also help you to feel safe when experiencing intense feelings.

Counselling can enhance shiatsu by enabling us to make sense of, name, acknowledge and share what we experience in the body. Speaking about our physical sensations can enhance our awareness of how we carry the story of our lives physically.

People report that this combined approach offers a powerful sense of wholeness through the integration of body and mind.
